Canary Wharf - Light Festival

The fifth and the final part of the Light festival is from Canary Wharf, from the Winter Lights festival. This festival is more established and perhaps more interesting as it has more interaction between visitors and art. Another wonderful set of light sculptures and art installations such as Fantastic Planet (by Amanda Paper) inspired by the cult science fiction film Fantastic Planet [1973]

Another rather unique and wonderful installation was BIT.FALL (by Julius Popp)  which looked pretty much like a waterfall made of words but in fact was a very clever printer-like design placed under the DLR bridge. The printer was printing words (one at the time) using water droplets, which were then falling down to be illuminated by light once they were printed.

On The Wings Of Freedom - an installation by Aether & Hemera, was made of illuminated "butterflies" which were changing colours as viewers were interacting with them via mobile phones in real-time.

Infinity Pools by Stephen Newby - circular pools floating on the surface of Middle Dock. The mirror-light design of pools makes them look like an endless tunnels going down.

An ultra interactive installation - The Pool, by Jen Lewin Studio. Large rings of touch-sensitive pads change colour as people jump, step, run alone or in groups inside of the pool.

London Lumiere - St James’s Sq

Part three - was a bit further afield at St James Square, where hanging from above and sitting on roofs were ethereal sculptures made of light -  Les Voyageurs (The Travellers) by the wonderful French artist Cedric Le Borgne. This was my favourite light instalation. All shots were taken handheld with Fuji X-T1 and Fujinon FX 50-140mm f2.8 lens.
